Song: Sun Up In The Sky

Here's a new lyric I wrote on an airplane last Tuesday. It goes to the old tune "Stormy Weather," and is third in my series of activist songs. Hope to compose a choral piece out of it. This will be dedicated to the amazing citizen activists known as "We Are Seneca Lake," who are fighting to protect the environment of the Finger Lakes region.

You know why
there's that sun up in the sky?
It's a treasure
to warm our buns
in the weather.
Keep shinin' all the time ... the time.

When it's gone
then we sing a different song.
Stormy weather
another resource
in good measure.
We'll capture the wind sublime ... sublime.

Listen for the whispers
of your children's children's children
longing for a world to call their own.
Think about the wonders
we have still to ponder.
How can we plunder this globe?

You know why
there's that sun up in the sky?
It's a promise
As surely as it shines upon us,
we'll change our ways in time.
